Hand-Embroidered Chambray Shirt | Adult Sz. M | c. 1970s
Details
This 1970s button-up shirt was originally produced by Montgomery Ward and features vivid hand embroidery across the front, back, and collar. Its detailing is inspired by folk and hippie motifs — multicolor florals stitched in a symmetrical bouquet on the back, and twin garden rows blooming above the front chest pockets. Red whipstitching borders the collar, cuffs, and pockets, lending a homespun finish that speaks to the American countercultural aesthetic of the era.
Cut in classic Western style, the shirt has a pointed collar, front button closure, dual flap pockets, and a curved hem. Made from a soft cotton-blend chambray with a medium drape, it fits like a true vintage men's Medium. There are light signs of wear and a faint mark near the placket — both preserved to honor the garment’s original history and texture.
This piece is a true vintage original from Montgomery Ward, hand-selected and restored in our studio. At Bang Bang Company, we celebrate garments that carry traces of the past — each thread, each imperfection, a mark of a life already lived. No two are alike.
